This year’s North East Open Call is in collaboration with Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art. The artists shown are based in, or from, the Northeast of England, and have been selected to present works or performances that address this year’s theme of ‘Autonomy’. The works reflect on what it means to have autonomy – whether artistic, political, cultural or financial – at a time when reality has seemingly been turned on its head.
